Job Description

An Accountant plays a crucial role in helping businesses make informed financial decisions. They are responsible for collecting, tracking, and ensuring the accuracy of a company’s financial records. Below are the key duties and responsibilities associated with this role:

1. Financial Transactions Management:

   • Track payments to both internal and external stakeholders.
   • Process tax payments and returns.
   • Prepare budget forecasts.

2. Financial Record Keeping:

   • Manage all accounting transactions.
   • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
   • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
   • Ensure timely bank payments.

3. Financial Reporting and Analysis:

   • Publish financial statements promptly.
   • Compute taxes and prepare tax returns.
   • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
   • Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity.

4. Auditing and Compliance:

   • Audit financial transactions and documents.
   • Reinforce financial data confidentiality.
   • Conduct database backups when necessary.
   • Comply with financial policies and regulations.

5. Qualifications and Skills:

   • Work experience as an Accountant.
   • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
   • Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks.
   • Advanced MS Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
   • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
   • Additional certification (such as CPA or CMA) is a plus.

6. Attributes:

   • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
   • A flair for spotting numerical mistakes.
   • Ability to provide accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity, and cash flows.
   • Commitment to ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
