Job Description

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Carry out routine laboratory work for thalassemia screening including phlebotomy, complete haemogram, blood picture analysis and electrophoresis.
  • Participation in field trips as required.
  • Participation in awareness raising programs as required.
  • Provide Genetic counselling to identified carriers and couples at risk.
  • Data entry for Thalassemia and updating of laboratory statistics.
  • Ensure that all laboratory supplies and equipment, including emergency stock, are utilized appropriately and stored appropriately.
  • Coordinating in house training.
  • Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and preparation of reagents in lab.
