Job Description

Job Title: Dredge Operator 

Division: Construction and Dredging Division

Work Location: Dredging Vessels located in remote sites

Application Deadline: 16-Apr-2022

Responsibilities:

• Navigational and command responsibilities for operating the workboat.
• Implementing all necessary safety measures onboard the vessel.
• Maintaining adequate stability of the vessel in all conditions.
• Responsible for maintenance on the vessel.
• Work under direction of supervisor
• Coordinate with projects team and be able to plan and direct tasks in advance.
• Operate power-driven dredgers to excavate and maintain harbors and/or navigable channels in waterways and to mine sand and gravel.
• Plan and Direct shore/ship-crew engaged in placing anchors and cables, laying additional lengths of pipes from dredge to shore.
• Starts and stops engines to operate equipment and routine checks as per the guidelines
• Moves levers to place dredge in position for excavation, engage hydraulic pump, raise, and lower suction boom, and control rotation of cutterhead and Pump water to clear machinery pipelines.
• Lowers anchor pole to verify depth of excavation, using winch, or able to use depth gauge to determine depth of excavation.
• Starts power winch that draws in or lets out cable to change position of dredge or pulls in and lets out cable manually.
• Controlling Machines and Processes using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
• Handling and Moving Objects, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
• Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings by monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Performing General Physical Activities.
• Be able to climb and work aloft.
• Physically and mentally fit to carry out tasks and be able to work long hours.
• Communicate with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 02 of experience as a Dredge Operator
